Where should I start? This is a great matchup and the return of the brave Kell Brook. Brook (36-1) Will take on the brute force of American challenger Errol Spence (21-0).
In the regular scheduled programming of 2017 and the great fights that have been put on thus far, Spence will fight Brook for the IBF world welterweight title at Bramall Lane Stadium in Sheffield, England.
Sought by many as one of the best in the weight class, this rising star will get a shot at his mandatory and the title and add a notable name to his resume. Spence is the slight favorite to win on Saturday. Spence is a no nonsense all in your face boxer, his onslaught of punches especially his body shots could create a problem for Brook if he can’t block or dodge those power shots.
Kell Brook
Brook is not to be taken lightly and will be the biggest test of Spence’s career. Kell Brook is no runner and is not shy. Brook’s combinations mixed with uppercuts and speed can prove to be a problem for his opponent. Kell Brook was a brace man to go up in weight to fight Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and actually won some rounds. This fighter loves action and is not afraid to let his hands go.
Kell “Special K” Brook
Pros:
- More experience, notable names on resume
- Toughness/great chin
- Speed
- Combination effectiveness
Cons:
- 8 month layoff due to
- surgery recovery of broken orbital bone (can be a target)
- Going down in weight (160 to 147)
Errol “The Truth” Spence
Pros:
- Power punching KO/TKO artist
- Body punching
- Speed
- Undefeated
Cons:
- Aggressive nature could open up for counters
- Young and untested
- Foot work needs work
Either way this is a very good match up and I believe it could be in a potential top 10 fight of the year contender, but of course this is strictly a bold prediction. Both fighters like to punch and I can see this being a very entertaining fight.
And now for my prediction, no disrespect to any of the fighters but like in all sports there must be a winner. Honestly this fight could go either way, that’s how good this fight is, and if I must eat crow, I will gladly eat it with hot sauce.
PREDICTED WINNER: Kell Brook
