After much speculation and lots of floating rumors, a match up between Oxnard native, Mikey Garcia and Cincinnati’s Adrien “The Problem” Broner is a go. This is a great fight between two big names in the boxing community. This fight would only make sense in a year where boxing Is having a phenomenal year where it yells “Boxing is not dead!”.
For Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) this makes sense to get into the spotlight with a great fighter with a big name on a stage where he could showcase his talents to a broader audience. Mikey has said himself that he wants to fight the best and that he wants big fights and this is one of those. Mikey will have to go up in weight from 135 to 140lbs which should not be a problem for the undefeated fighter
Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) will have to make Weight at 140lbs which he failed to accomplish two fights ago with Ashley Theophane. I doubt Adrien Broner will miss weight this time against such a difficult adversary and such a large event. Broner is coming off a win against Adrian Granados in February.
It has not yet been announced where the fight will take place.
