Last March we witnessed one of the best boxing matches this year had to offer in Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-1-0, 38 KO’s) vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39 KO’s). This was the fight that resulted in an upset with Rungvisai (or as many call the Thai Fighter) winning by majority decision. A headbutt to Chocolatito’s forehead forced blood to cover his face throughout the match.
The Compubox numbers had Roman Gonzalez ahead by 157 landed punches which is considerably more.
I was not sure who had won the fight but I believe I was leaning more to the Sor Rungvisai side just because of the activity he had presented in that fight, regardless of all the punches landed by Chocolatito.
This Saturday we will see the mandatory rematch between Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez vs. Sor Rungvisai which judging from their first encounter will be another extraordinary fight.
To add to the main event is another phenomenal under card making the event known as SUPER FLY with Naoya “The Monster” Inoue (13-0-0, 11 KO’s) vs. Antonio “Carita” Nieves (17-1-2, 9 KO’s) and Carlos “Principe” Cuadras (36-1-1, 27 KO’s) vs. Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada (35-2-0, 25 KO’s).
HBO has a short segment of HEY HAROLD talking about the main bout, check it out.
After the fights on HBO, 24/7 Canelo vs. Golovkin will air.
